Holiday closures

China futures closures match the A-share market (the State Council’s national holiday schedule). Note one quirk: on the last trading day before a long break (Chinese New Year, National Day, Labour Day) the **night session is suspended** — daytime trading runs normally but the night session does not open — and all contracts halt for the duration of the holiday. Exact arrangements follow each exchange’s official notice.

FAQ

What are the day and night session hours for China futures?
The daytime session has three blocks: 09:00–10:15, 10:30–11:30 and 13:30–15:00. The night session starts at 21:00 and ends at 23:00, 23:30, 01:00 or 02:30 depending on the product (crude oil, gold and silver run until 02:30 the next day).
Which products have a night session?
Most base metals (copper, aluminium, zinc), precious metals (gold, silver), energy (crude oil, fuel oil), agricultural products (soybeans, palm oil) and rubber have a night session. Equity index futures (IF / IH / IC / IM) and government bond futures trade in the daytime only.
Are there special arrangements for the night session before a long holiday?
Yes. The night session on the last trading day before long breaks such as Chinese New Year, National Day and Labour Day usually does not open — this is the “night-session suspension.” Exactly which night sessions are paused follows the closure schedule published by each exchange.
Do CFFEX index futures keep the same hours as commodity futures?
No. CFFEX equity index futures (IF / IH / IC / IM) trade 09:30–11:30 and 13:00–15:00 (in line with A-shares), and government bond futures trade 09:30–11:30 and 13:00–15:15.
How do I download historical China futures data?
Download it via the Tushare connector in Quant Data Fetch. With many contracts and heavy night-session volume, set up incremental scheduled updates rather than running full pulls by hand.
